Les hauts d anjou

Les Hauts d'Anjou is a newly formed municipality in Maine-et-Loire, established in 2016 through the merger of several villages, including Le Lion-d'Angers, Châteauneuf-sur-Sarthe and Grez-Neuville. Crossed by the Oudon and Mayenne rivers, this rural area in northern Anjou offers a peaceful setting, characterised by the region's hedgerow landscapes and gentle rolling countryside, ideal for walking and cycling. Le Lion-d'Angers, the liveliest hub of the area, is home to the Isle Briand national stud farm, a well-known equestrian centre that hosts horse-riding competitions each year, including the Grand National de Cheval de Loisir. Grez-Neuville, a flower-decked village on the banks of the Mayenne, charms visitors with its marina and traditional tuffeau-stone houses typical of the Anjou region. Angers, around thirty minutes away, provides easy access to urban amenities while allowing residents and visitors to enjoy a green, unspoilt environment. The area is well suited to outdoor pursuits, exploring local heritage and sampling Angevin gastronomy, from Loire Valley wines to regional specialities.
