Loire authion

Loire Authion is a merged commune in the Maine-et-Loire department, formed from several villages (Andard, Bauné, Brain-sur-l'Authion, Corné, Fontaine-Milon, Pellouailles-les-Vignes and Villevêque), roughly fifteen kilometres east of Angers. The area lies within the valley of the Authion, a tributary of the Loire, on a plain traditionally known for market gardening, particularly lamb's lettuce, leeks and cabbages, which still shape the local agricultural landscape. The nearby Loire river allows for pleasant walks and cycling routes connecting the villages to the riverbanks, all within a peaceful rural setting. Each former village retains its own church and town centre, along with a few modest heritage features such as the château at Villevêque. Thanks to its location, the area offers easy access to Angers, with its shops, TGV train station and the A11 motorway close by. Loire Authion appeals through its tranquil surroundings, combining farmland, waterways and convenient access to urban amenities, while preserving its village character and typical Anjou countryside atmosphere.
