Sevremoine

Sevremoine is a new commune in the Maine-et-Loire department, formed in 2016 through the merger of nine communities in the Mauges area, including Saint-Macaire-en-Mauges, Saint-André-de-la-Marche, Torfou and Montfaucon-Montigné. Located close to Cholet, it lies within the typical bocage landscape of western France, crossed by the River Moine. The area retains a rural heritage of windmills, chapels and small ponds, alongside vineyards around Montfaucon-Montigné, on the edge of the Nantes wine region and the Coteaux du Layon. The Torfou area is linked to the Vendée Wars, with a battle having taken place there in 1793. The region is well suited to outdoor activities such as walking and countryside strolls, cycling to discover local heritage, or visits connected to Vendée's history. The oceanic climate brings mild summers and temperate winters. Sevremoine makes a convenient base for exploring the Cholet area and nearby vineyard landscapes, combining rural tranquillity with easy access to the main roads linking Nantes and Angers.
