Longuenee en anjou

Longuenée-en-Anjou is a merged commune in the Maine-et-Loire department, formed from several villages including Grez-Neuville, Le Bourg-d'Iré, Chazé-sur-Argos and Montreuil-sur-Maine. Located around twenty kilometres north-west of Angers, it lies within the rolling countryside of the Anjou bocage, crossed by the River Mayenne. The village of Grez-Neuville, once home to bargemen, retains a heritage linked to river trade and features a pleasant waterside stop popular for riverside walks. The area offers a peaceful rural setting well suited to outdoor pursuits such as walking, cycling along marked routes, and fishing by the riverbanks. The surrounding villages showcase traditional Angevin architecture, with tufa stone and slate-roofed houses, alongside a scattering of rural chapels and churches. Its proximity to Angers provides easy access to shops, the railway station and the department's main attractions, including Angers Castle and the Loire à Vélo cycle route. Longuenée-en-Anjou therefore serves as a quiet base for exploring the natural and historical heritage of the Anjou region, away from urban bustle yet close to everyday amenities.
