Sevremoine

Sevremoine is a new commune in the Maine-et-Loire département, formed in 2016 through the merger of several villages in the Choletais area, including Saint-Macaire-en-Mauges, Le Longeron, Torfou and Saint-Germain-sur-Moine. Located in the Pays de la Loire region, close to Cholet and Clisson, it lies within a hedgerow landscape crossed by the river Moine, on the edge of the Nantes vineyards known for appellations such as Muscadet. The gently rolling countryside, dotted with rural paths and small local landmarks, is well suited to walking and cycling. The village of Torfou retains historical associations with the Vendée Wars, a significant episode in local history at the end of the eighteenth century. The commune combines rural life with economic activity, featuring several craft and industrial zones inherited from its former constituent villages. The mild oceanic climate supports outdoor pursuits throughout the year. Sevremoine serves as a convenient base for exploring the Nantes vineyards, the historic town of Clisson, and the characteristic countryside of the Vendée and Anjou regions, offering rural tranquillity alongside easy access to routes linking Nantes, Cholet and Angers.
