Mauges sur loire

Mauges-sur-Loire is a commune in the Maine-et-Loire department, formed in 2016 through the merger of several villages including Saint-Florent-le-Vieil, Montjean-sur-Loire and La Pommeraye. It stretches along the Loire River, within a section of the Loire Valley listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, offering typical Anjou landscapes of hillsides, vineyards and riverbanks. The village of Saint-Florent-le-Vieil, perched on a hill overlooking the Loire, features an abbey church and a well-regarded viewpoint over the river. The commune lies along the Loire à Vélo cycle route, making it a popular stop for gentle cycling and river-based tourism. Its rural surroundings, dotted with small villages and natural areas, are well suited to exploring local heritage, walking trails and Anjou produce, particularly wines from the Anjou appellation. The temperate oceanic climate allows for pleasant stays across much of the year. Its proximity to Angers and Nantes makes day trips to both cities easy, while still offering the tranquillity of the Loire countryside.
