Loire authion

Loire Authion is a merged commune in the Maine-et-Loire department, formed in 2016 from several villages lying between the Loire River and the Authion, around fifteen kilometres east of Angers. The flat, green landscape sits within the Loire Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and retains a distinctly rural character shaped by market gardening and fruit growing, long-standing activities in this fertile valley. The town of Beaufort-en-Anjou, the commune's main hub, is home to a medieval keep and former covered market halls, remnants of its history as a trading town. The Loire à Vélo cycle route passes nearby, offering easy access to the châteaux and villages scattered across the surrounding Loire Valley. Between vegetable fields, meadows and small waterways, the setting is well suited to walking or cycling at a leisurely pace. Its closeness to Angers means quick access to shops, the TGV railway station and major road links, while still enjoying a quieter, more rural atmosphere. Loire Authion therefore makes a convenient base for exploring the Anjou region and the wider Loire Valley without straying far from everyday amenities.
