Beaufort en anjou

Beaufort-en-Anjou is a merged commune in the Maine-et-Loire department, formed from several villages, with Beaufort-en-Vallée remaining its main town. Located in the Baugeois area between Angers and Saumur, it offers a typically rural Anjou setting of cultivated plains and small streams feeding into the Loire. The town of Beaufort-en-Vallée retains some historic character, including the remains of its medieval castle and a 19th-century covered market hall that still forms the heart of the centre. The local economy remains closely tied to agriculture and market gardening, traditional activities of this part of the Baugeois. The Loire river, just a few kilometres away, provides opportunities for cycling along routes linking the Anjou valleys. Angers, around twenty minutes away, offers easy access to urban amenities, while Saumur, known for its château and troglodyte cellars, is also nearby. The oceanic climate brings mild summers and temperate winters, making the area well suited to holiday lets or gîte stays in a peaceful, countryside atmosphere away from busy tourist crowds.
