Marcillac vallon

Marcillac-Vallon is a village in the Aveyron department, in the Occitanie region of southern France, set within a green valley surrounded by hills and limestone plateaux known as causses. The village is best known for its Marcillac AOC vineyard, one of the oldest in the southern Massif Central, produced from the local Fer Servadou grape, known locally as Mansois. The village itself retains traditional Rouergue architecture, with stone houses and a church reflecting the area's religious heritage. The surrounding countryside is well suited to walking and exploring the rural landscape of vineyards, meadows and small plateaux. Its proximity to Rodez, the prefecture of Aveyron, and to better-known sites such as Conques, makes it easy to combine a peaceful stay with cultural day trips. Local cuisine reflects Aveyron traditions, including dishes such as aligot, tripoux and Laguiole cheese, often found at regional markets.
