Le valtin

Le Valtin is a small village in the Vosges mountains, in the department of the same name, tucked away in the Chajoux valley within the Ballons des Vosges Regional Nature Park. One of the least populated communes in France, this mid-mountain village is notable for its unspoilt surroundings of fir and spruce forests, upland meadows and streams. The Faymont waterfall, reached via a forest path, is one of the area's natural highlights, alongside the nearby Hohneck summit and the Col de la Schlucht, both popular starting points for summer hiking routes. In winter, the area's altitude and reliable snow cover make it suitable for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Le Valtin also lies along the Route des Crêtes, a scenic road well known for its views over the Alsace plain. Traditional Vosges farmhouses, built from wood and stone, dot the landscape. Set well away from major tourist routes, the village offers a quiet base for those seeking nature, tranquillity and outdoor pursuits throughout the year.
