Beaulieu sur layon

Beaulieu-sur-Layon is a village in the Maine-et-Loire department, set at the heart of the Anjou vineyards in the Layon valley. The river lends its name to the Coteaux du Layon appellation, well known for its sweet white wines, and the surrounding countryside reflects this typical rolling Anjou wine landscape. The area is also shaped by vine-growing for other local appellations, offering an unspoilt rural setting well suited to walks through the hillsides and nearby hamlets. Beaulieu-sur-Layon lies roughly thirty kilometres south-west of Angers, providing reasonably easy access to urban amenities while retaining a peaceful, green environment. The Layon itself, a tributary of the Loire, flows through agricultural and natural landscapes popular for hiking and exploring the Anjou wine heritage. Its proximity to the Loire à Vélo cycle route and the Anjou wine routes makes it appealing for those who enjoy gentle touring by bike or on foot. The temperate oceanic climate supports visits throughout the year, though spring and summer are particularly favoured for touring the local vineyards and enjoying the natural surroundings along the Layon river.
