Vaudelnay

Vaudelnay is a small rural village in the Maine-et-Loire département, located in the Saumur area, close to Doué-la-Fontaine and Montreuil-Bellay. The surrounding landscape is typical of this part of Anjou, combining vineyards, farmland and hedgerow countryside, with limestone stone buildings characteristic of the region. The Saumur area is well known for its wine production, particularly the Saumur and Saumur-Champigny appellations, and wine enthusiasts can visit numerous estates and troglodyte cellars carved into the local tuffeau stone, a common feature throughout the area. The village makes a convenient base for exploring the Loire Valley châteaux, Saumur itself with its hilltop castle and famous cavalry school, or the Puy du Fou theme park, situated within reasonable driving distance.
