Saint-Georges-sur-Loire is a village in the Maine-et-Loire department, in the Anjou region, around twenty kilometres west of Angers. It is best known for the Château de Serrant, a listed historic building blending Renaissance and classical architectural styles, set within a park and surrounded by moats. The village lies within the Loire Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage site, benefiting from a landscape of hillsides, vineyards and riverbanks. It falls within the Anjou wine-growing area, known for its white and rosé wines. The Loire à Vélo cycle route passes through the region, offering an enjoyable way to explore the surrounding villages and wine estates. The climate is temperate oceanic, with mild summers and gentle winters, well suited to outdoor pursuits for much of the year.
