Le coudray macouard

Le Coudray-Macouard is a village in the Maine-et-Loire department, a few kilometres south of Saumur, in the heart of the Anjou-Saumur vineyards. Awarded the Petites Cités de Caractère label, it retains architectural heritage typical of the local tuffeau stone region, with troglodyte dwellings, narrow lanes and pale stone houses characteristic of the Saumur area. The village is surrounded by vineyards and fields, offering a peaceful rural setting ideal for walks. Its proximity to Saumur makes it easy to explore major Loire Valley attractions, such as Saumur Castle, the National Riding School, and the numerous troglodyte cellars where local sparkling wines are produced. The region is also known for rose cultivation and the production of Anjou and Saumur-Champigny wines.
