Villey le sec

Villey-le-Sec is a village in the Meurthe-et-Moselle department, located in the Moselle valley a few kilometres from Toul. It is particularly known for its 19th-century military fort, part of the Séré de Rivières fortification system built to defend the Toul gap. Restored by a local association, the fort can be visited and features fortifications, underground galleries and period equipment reflecting the region's military history. The village itself retains a rural Lorraine character, with stone houses and a green setting along the Moselle river. The nearby Côtes de Toul vineyards, known for their distinctive grey wine, add a wine-related interest to any visit to the area. The surroundings offer opportunities for riverside walks and exploration of local rural heritage. The neighbouring town of Toul complements the area's appeal with its cathedral and ramparts.
