Jouy

Jouy is a village in the Eure-et-Loir department, within the Centre-Val de Loire region, located close to Chartres and its renowned UNESCO World Heritage cathedral. The village lies within the typical landscape of the Beauce plain, a vast agricultural area known for its cereal crops and open countryside, ideal for walking or cycling. Its proximity to Chartres provides easy access to shops, restaurants and historic sites, while still offering the tranquillity of rural surroundings. The region enjoys a temperate oceanic climate, with mild summers and cool, though rarely harsh, winters. Nearby areas offer walking opportunities in neighbouring valleys, particularly along the Eure river, as well as a chance to discover the rural heritage typical of the Centre-Val de Loire region, characterised by farmhouses, village churches and small market towns. Jouy therefore makes a peaceful base for exploring both the architectural heritage of Chartres and the agricultural landscapes of the Beauce, within reasonable travelling distance of Paris by car or train.
