St eliph

Saint-Éliph is a small rural village in the Eure-et-Loir département, within the Perche region, close to La Loupe and Nogent-le-Rotrou. This gently rolling countryside, characterised by hedgerow farmland, woodland and grazing pastures, offers a peaceful, authentic setting well away from urban bustle. The area is traditionally linked to Percheron horse breeding and pastoral farming, which have shaped much of the local landscape. The surrounding lanes and footpaths are well suited to walking or cycling, winding through hamlets built in typical local stone and brick. More broadly, the Perche region is valued for its understated architectural heritage, including manor houses and well-preserved hedgerow countryside. Chartres, home to its UNESCO World Heritage-listed cathedral, lies less than an hour's drive away, making it an easy day-trip destination. The climate is temperate oceanic, with mild summers and cool winters, allowing outdoor activities across much of the year. Saint-Éliph therefore makes a quiet, convenient base from which to explore the Perche and its unspoilt rural surroundings.
