Auterive

Auterive is a small town in south-western France, in the Occitanie region, situated on the banks of the River Ariège. Located around thirty kilometres south of Toulouse, it enjoys a temperate climate with Mediterranean influences, featuring warm, dry summers and mild winters typical of the Toulouse basin. The town retains the character of a bastide, with an old centre, streets arranged around a central square, and a scattering of half-timbered houses reflecting its medieval origins. The riverbanks of the Ariège provide a pleasant spot for walking and relaxation, while the surrounding countryside of hills and valleys is well suited to hiking and cycling. Auterive makes a convenient base for exploring Toulouse and its wider metropolitan area, as well as the more hilly landscapes of the Comminges area and the Pyrenean foothills further south. Good road and rail links make it easy to get around the region. Staying in Auterive therefore offers a peaceful, rural setting while remaining close to urban amenities and the tourist attractions of Haute-Garonne.
