Miradoux

Miradoux is a medieval bastide town founded in the 13th century, located in the Gers department in Occitania, at the heart of the Lomagne area, a gently rolling region known for its farmland and fields of sunflowers and cereal crops. The village retains a central square lined with arcaded walkways, a hallmark of Gascon bastide architecture, along with a church and narrow streets typical of this planned medieval layout. The surrounding countryside is well suited to walking and exploring local heritage, with neighbouring villages such as Lectoure and Fleurance offering similar bastide or historic town features. The Gers region is well known for its gastronomy, particularly foie gras, Armagnac brandy and Côtes de Gascogne wines, all of which can be found at local markets and farms. The climate is mild, with warm, dry summers and relatively temperate winters typical of south-western France. Miradoux makes a peaceful base from which to explore the Gascon countryside, its neighbouring bastides and regional culinary traditions, away from major roads and mass tourism.
