Waldighofen

Waldighofen is a village in the Sundgau area of Haut-Rhin, a rural and gently rolling region in southern Alsace close to the Swiss border. The area is characterised by numerous ponds, woodland and hilly countryside, making it a pleasant setting for walking and cycling. Sundgau is also known for its regional cuisine, particularly fried carp, a local speciality served in several inns throughout the area. The surrounding villages retain the charm of the half-timbered houses typical of rural Alsace. Waldighofen lies close to Ferrette, a small historic town overlooked by its castle ruins, and is only around thirty kilometres from Mulhouse and Basel, allowing easy access to these urban centres while enjoying the peace of the Alsatian countryside. The region offers a quiet holiday setting suited to nature-based tourism, with walks along the Largue river and opportunities to explore rural heritage.
