Wittelsheim

Wittelsheim is a town in the Haut-Rhin department of Alsace, just a few kilometres from Mulhouse. Its history is closely tied to potash mining, an industry that shaped the local landscape with its former slag heaps, now converted into green spaces and walking areas offering views over the Alsace plain and the foothills of the Vosges mountains. This industrial heritage remains visible in the local architecture and collective memory of the region's mining basin, of which Wittelsheim was one of the key centres.
