Nambsheim

Nambsheim is a small village in the Haut-Rhin department of Alsace, located on the Rhine plain close to the German border and not far from Neuf-Brisach, renowned for its Vauban fortifications, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The village lies just a few kilometres from the Grand Canal d'Alsace and the Rhine, where hydroelectric installations and locks can be found, particularly near Vogelgrun. This setting makes it a pleasant starting point for walks or cycling along the riverbanks, as well as for fishing or nature watching in the wooded wetlands typical of the Alsatian Ried. Colmar, with its historic centre and half-timbered houses, is around twenty kilometres away, providing easy access to shops, restaurants and regional attractions. The area enjoys a semi-continental climate, with warm summers and cool winters, well suited to outdoor activities for much of the year. Nambsheim remains a quiet, residential village, more rural than touristic, appreciated for its tranquillity and its proximity to nature and the Rhine.
