Horbourg wihr

Horbourg-Wihr is a town in the Haut-Rhin department of Alsace, directly bordering Colmar, of which it forms something of a residential and economic extension. Crossed by the River Ill, it enjoys a green setting typical of the Alsace plain, nestled between the Vosges mountains and the Black Forest. The town has a lake popular for swimming and water sports during the summer months, along with riverside camping facilities favoured by families and outdoor enthusiasts. Its close proximity to Colmar's historic centre, just a short walk or drive away, provides easy access to the town's half-timbered houses, the canals of Petite Venise, and its museums. The wider region is also known for its vineyards: the Alsace Wine Route runs through neighbouring wine villages where visitors can sample Riesling, Gewürztraminer and Pinot Noir. The semi-continental climate, drier than elsewhere in Alsace, makes it suitable for visits throughout much of the year. Horbourg-Wihr therefore offers a practical, peaceful base for exploring the Alsace vineyards and the city of Colmar.
