Kunheim

Kunheim is a village in the Haut-Rhin département of Alsace, located on the Rhine plain between Colmar and Neuf-Brisach. It lies close to the Grand Canal d'Alsace and the Rhine itself, making it a convenient starting point for walks or cycle rides along the riverbanks and through the surrounding natural areas, including the Rhine forest and its wetlands, which are well suited to wildlife watching. The region offers a peaceful, green setting typical of the Alsatian Ried, with meadows, canals and small waterways. Kunheim's central location makes it easy to explore Colmar, a historic town known for its medieval centre and the picturesque Petite Venise district, as well as Neuf-Brisach, a fortified town listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Alsace vineyards and wine route are also within easy reach. The semi-continental climate of the Alsace plain brings warm summers and cooler winters, suitable for outdoor activities for much of the year. The village itself remains a quiet, residential place, valued for its unspoilt natural surroundings.
