Algolsheim

Algolsheim is a small rural village in the Haut-Rhin department of Alsace, located in the Ried plain between Colmar and the Rhine. This agricultural village offers a peaceful setting typical of the Alsatian floodplain landscape, with farmland and pockets of woodland ideal for walking and nature watching. Its location makes it a convenient base for exploring the wider region: the fortified town of Neuf-Brisach, built by Vauban and listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, lies close by, as does Colmar, well known for its historic centre and canals. Wine enthusiasts can also easily reach the Alsace Wine Route, which winds through numerous vineyard villages further west. The region's semi-continental climate brings warm summers and cool winters, well suited to outdoor activities such as cycling, particularly along the Rhine or on the network of paths linking neighbouring villages. Algolsheim is well suited to quiet stays centred on nature and the surrounding Alsatian heritage, away from the busier tourist centres of the larger towns.
