Soppe le bas

Soppe-le-Bas is a small village in the Haut-Rhin department, set in the Doller valley within the Sundgau region, close to Masevaux and Sentheim. It lies within the Ballons des Vosges Regional Nature Park, a broad area of wooded hills and mid-mountain landscape bordering the southern Vosges massif. This green, rural setting is well suited to walking and cycling, with the Doller valley offering several marked trails linking neighbouring villages to the foothills of the Grand Ballon and Ballon d'Alsace. The local architecture retains traditional half-timbered Alsatian houses, typical of Sundgau villages. The surrounding countryside is also notable for its numerous ponds and forests, a distinctive feature of the Sundgau landscape. Nearby Masevaux provides everyday shops and services, while Mulhouse and Belfort, both under an hour away, offer opportunities for cultural or city day trips. The semi-continental climate brings mild summers and cool winters, favourable for outdoor activities throughout the year. Soppe-le-Bas therefore makes a quiet base for exploring the Sundgau area and the southern Vosges.
