Urbes

Urbes is a small village in the Haut-Rhin department, nestled in the Thur valley at the heart of the Vosges mountains, within the Ballons des Vosges Regional Nature Park. The village enjoys a mountainous setting, surrounded by fir forests and hills well suited to walking and mountain biking. Its proximity to Lake Kruth-Wildenstein, just a few kilometres away, makes it a convenient base for outdoor pursuits such as fishing, strolling or simply relaxing by the water. The nearby peaks, including the Grand Ballon, offer more demanding hiking routes and views over the Alsace plain. In winter, the area allows for skiing, with mid-mountain resorts accessible from the valley. The climate is continental and mountainous, with mild summers and snowy winters at higher altitudes. Urbes therefore provides a quiet base from which to explore the natural heritage of the Vosges, amid forests, rivers and summits, in a preserved rural setting within reasonable reach of Alsatian towns such as Thann and Mulhouse.
