Biesheim

Biesheim is a small town in the Haut-Rhin department of Alsace, located right by the Rhine and just a few kilometres from Colmar. It borders Neuf-Brisach, whose Vauban fortifications are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, making Biesheim a convenient base for visiting this historic landmark. The town is home to a Gallo-Roman museum noted for its archaeological collections, reflecting the area's ancient past. The surrounding natural setting, shaped by the Rhine forest and the Rhône–Rhine canal, lends itself well to outdoor pursuits such as walking, fishing and cycling, particularly along the EuroVelo 6 route that follows the Rhine. Its proximity to Germany, including the city of Freiburg im Breisgau, allows for easy cross-border day trips.
