Hirtzfelden

Hirtzfelden is a small village in the Haut-Rhin department of Alsace, set within the Ried plain between Colmar and Neuf-Brisach. This rural settlement, surrounded by farmland and the damp meadows typical of the Ried region, offers a peaceful countryside setting. Its location makes it a convenient base for exploring Alsace's main attractions: Colmar, with its historic centre and the picturesque Petite Venise district, lies around fifteen kilometres away, while Neuf-Brisach, a fortified town designed by Vauban and listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is also nearby. The area is well suited to cycling, with a network of paths crossing the Ried, and the Alsace Wine Route is roughly a twenty-minute drive away. The Rhine and its natural surroundings offer further opportunities for walks. Hirtzfelden thus provides a quiet base from which to discover Alsace's heritage, from half-timbered villages to vineyards and the wetlands of the Ried, all while enjoying a calm setting away from the bustle of larger towns.
