Wettolsheim

Wettolsheim is a wine-growing village in the Haut-Rhin department of Alsace, just a few kilometres from Colmar, along the Alsace Wine Route. Nestled at the foot of the sub-Vosges hills, it is surrounded by well-regarded vineyards, including the Clos Herrenweg site, which contribute to the local reputation for Alsatian wine production, particularly Gewurztraminer and Riesling. The village retains a typical rural character for the region, with half-timbered houses and flower-lined lanes. Its close proximity to Colmar provides easy access to shops, restaurants and tourist attractions, while still offering the peace of the surrounding countryside. Walkers and cyclists can enjoy paths winding through the vine-covered slopes, with views over the Alsace plain and the Vosges mountains. The area enjoys a semi-continental climate, generally dry and sunny, well suited to winegrowing. Wettolsheim therefore makes a convenient base for exploring the Alsace Wine Route, its tasting cellars and neighbouring villages, while remaining close to the amenities of Colmar.
