Raedersdorf

Raedersdorf is a small village in the Haut-Rhin department, located in the Sundgau, a hilly region in southern Alsace close to the Swiss border. This rural area, less visited than the Alsace Wine Route, is characterised by rolling countryside, woodland and numerous ponds, a legacy of the region's fish-farming tradition, notably the fried carp typical of the Sundgau. Raedersdorf lies just a few kilometres from Ferrette, a medieval town overlooked by its castle ruins, and is within easy reach of Basel in Switzerland. The surrounding landscape, set between the Alsatian Jura and the foothills of the Vosges, is well suited to walking and cycling, with marked trails winding through orchards and woods. Local life remains rooted in agriculture and rural heritage, with farm inns and traditional half-timbered houses characteristic of the Sundgau. The village makes a peaceful base for exploring a quieter side of Alsace, away from the main tourist routes, valued for its tranquillity and unspoilt countryside charm.
