Mittlach

Mittlach is a small village in the Haut-Rhin department, tucked away at the head of the Munster valley in the Vosges mountains. Bordered by forest and close to the Lac de la Lauch, it serves as a popular starting point for walking routes and, in winter, cross-country skiing, thanks to a network of marked trails winding through the surrounding beech and fir woods. One of the least populated communes in the valley, it retains a distinctly rural character, with traditional Vosges farm-inns offering local specialities such as farmhouse Munster cheese and forest-style savoury pies.
