Traubach le haut

Traubach-le-Haut is a small village in the Haut-Rhin département, in Alsace, located in the Sundgau region, a few kilometres south of Mulhouse and close to the Swiss border. This gently rolling countryside, dotted with woodland, meadows and numerous ponds, offers a peaceful rural setting ideal for a quiet stay. The Sundgau area is known for its traditional architecture, including half-timbered houses and typical farmhouses, as well as for its regional cuisine, particularly fried carp, a speciality linked to the surrounding ponds, and local savoury pies. The surrounding countryside is well suited to walking and cycling, with a network of country lanes connecting neighbouring villages. The proximity to Mulhouse provides easy access to museums and a wider cultural scene, while the Swiss border and the Alsatian Jura are also within easy reach for day trips. The region has a semi-continental climate, with mild summers and cool winters, and rainfall spread fairly evenly throughout the year. Traubach-le-Haut therefore makes a convenient base for exploring the Sundgau, combining unspoilt nature with Alsatian tradition.
