Illhaeusern

Illhaeusern is a small village in Alsace, located in the Bas-Rhin department, on the banks of the River Ill between Colmar and Sélestat. Rebuilt after being destroyed during the Second World War, it is best known for its culinary heritage, most notably the Michelin-starred Auberge de l'Ill, which has long contributed to the region's gastronomic reputation. The village retains a peaceful setting typical of the Alsace plain, with half-timbered houses and a green, riverside environment. Its location makes it a convenient base for exploring the Alsace Wine Route and nearby villages such as Colmar, Riquewihr and Kaysersberg, all noted for their architectural heritage and Christmas markets. The surrounding countryside also offers opportunities for walking and cycling along the Ill and through the neighbouring farmland.
