Walbach

Walbach is a small village in the Haut-Rhin department, nestled in the Weiss valley between Munster and Colmar, at the heart of the Vosges mountains. This Alsatian locality offers a peaceful rural setting, surrounded by forests, hills and meadows typical of the region. Its location makes it a convenient base for exploring the Munster valley, well known for its green landscapes and farming traditions, particularly the production of the famous local cheese. Hiking enthusiasts will find numerous marked trails nearby leading up to the Vosges ridges and high pastures, offering sweeping views over the Alsace plain. Colmar, around fifteen kilometres away, is easily reached, with its historic centre, half-timbered houses and canals, while the Alsace Wine Route and its picturesque villages are also within short reach. In winter, the Markstein and Gaschney ski resorts are accessible from Walbach. The village itself is characterised by traditional Alsatian architecture and a quiet atmosphere, appreciated for restful stays away from tourist crowds, while remaining close to the main attractions of the Haut-Rhin region.
