Ribeauville

Ribeauvillé is a small town in the Haut-Rhin department of Alsace, set at the foot of the Vosges mountains along the Alsace Wine Route. The town is overlooked by three medieval castles, known as the Three Castles of Ribeauvillé (Saint-Ulrich, Girsberg and Haut-Ribeaupierre), reached via walking trails that offer views over the vineyards and the Alsace plain. The historic centre retains typical Alsatian architecture, with half-timbered houses, the Butchers' Tower and the Town Hall square. Ribeauvillé is well known for its wines, particularly Riesling and Gewurztraminer, produced by numerous local winegrowers who welcome visitors for tastings. The town is listed among the most beautiful villages in France and draws visitors especially for its Christmas market in December. The surrounding area is well suited to walking, cycling and exploring nearby villages such as Riquewihr and Hunawihr.
