Soultzeren

Soultzeren is a small commune in the Haut-Rhin department of Alsace, tucked into the Munster valley at the foot of the Vosges mountains. Just a few kilometres from the town of Munster and close to the Schlucht pass and the Hohneck peak, it offers a mountain setting well suited to hiking, cross-country skiing and forest walks depending on the season. The village retains the rural character typical of the area, with farm-inns serving regional Vosges specialities such as savoury tarts, choucroute and local cheeses, including the Munster cheese produced on the surrounding high pastures. The Munster valley is also known for its orchards and upland meadows, providing open views across the Vosges summits. Nature lovers can easily reach the region's lakes and long-distance footpaths that cross the area. Soultzeren therefore makes a practical base for exploring the scenic Route des Crêtes, nearby ski resorts and Alsace's cultural heritage, all while enjoying a peaceful, green setting away from the busier tourist towns of the Alsace plain.
