Merxheim

Merxheim is a village in the Haut-Rhin department, in the Grand Est region of France, nestled at the foot of the sub-Vosges hills, just a few kilometres from Guebwiller and the Alsace Wine Route. This rural setting offers a peaceful atmosphere, surrounded by vineyards and orchards typical of this part of Alsace. The nearby vineyards allow visitors to explore local wine cellars and sample regional wines, including Riesling and Gewurztraminer produced in the surrounding area. The Vosges mountains, close by, are ideal for hiking and discovering forested landscapes with views over the Alsace plain. The city of Colmar, with its historic centre and canals, as well as Mulhouse, are both easily reached by car for cultural day trips. The region is also renowned for its gastronomy, particularly choucroute, tarte flambée, and dishes featuring Munster cheese. Merxheim therefore makes for a quiet base from which to explore the Alsace vineyards, the charming villages nearby, and outdoor activities within a well-preserved natural setting.
