Montsurs

Montsurs is a village in the Mayenne department of the Pays de la Loire region, around twenty kilometres north-east of Laval, on the route towards Mayenne. Crossed by the Jouanne river, it lies within a typical bocage landscape of north-western Mayenne, characterised by meadows, hedgerows and small woodlands. The village is locally known for its livestock market, particularly for calves, reflecting the area's long-standing agricultural and farming heritage. The centre retains a rural feel, with a handful of local shops, a church and green spaces suited to gentle walks. The surrounding countryside offers opportunities for walking and cycling along quiet lanes, as well as fishing on nearby waterways. Montsurs makes a convenient base for exploring Mayenne, with fairly easy access to the towns of Laval and Mayenne, both offering a wider range of shops, services and heritage sites.
