Missillac

Missillac is a village in the Loire-Atlantique department, located between Nantes and La Baule, close to the Brière regional nature park. It is best known for the Château de la Bretesche, a medieval castle surrounded by a lake, which today houses a well-regarded golf course and hotel estate. This wooded, gently rolling landscape, typical of historic Brittany, provides a peaceful setting well suited to walking and exploring the surrounding countryside. The village offers convenient access to the Atlantic coast, with the beaches of La Baule and Pornichet around twenty minutes away, as well as to the Brière marshes, a protected natural area ideal for wildlife spotting and traditional punt-boat trips. Missillac retains a rural character, with a few local shops, a church and several walking trails. Its geographical position makes it a practical base for exploring the coastline, the Loire estuary and the Breton hinterland alike, while offering a quiet pace of life away from the busier tourist crowds found along the coast during peak season.
