Frossay

Frossay is a village in the Pays de Retz area of the Loire-Atlantique department, in the Pays de la Loire region of western France. It lies on the southern bank of the Loire estuary, between Nantes and Saint-Nazaire, and borders part of the Brière marshland, close to the Brière Regional Nature Park. Crossed by the Martinière canal, the local landscape is dominated by extensive wetlands, offering good opportunities for birdwatching, walking and cycling. The village itself retains a distinctly rural character, surrounded by farmland typical of the Pays de Retz. Its riverside setting provides views over shipping traffic and the port activity around Saint-Nazaire. Frossay enjoys a temperate oceanic climate, with mild summers and gentle winters. The village makes a convenient base for reaching the sandy beaches of the Côte de Jade, including Saint-Brevin-les-Pins and Pornic, as well as the cities of Nantes and Saint-Nazaire, both around thirty minutes away by car.
