Vertou

Vertou is a town within the Nantes metropolitan area, in Loire-Atlantique, just a few kilometres from Nantes city centre. It sits along the Sèvre Nantaise river, whose banks offer popular walks, particularly around the Chaussée des Moines weir and the Port de Vertou, a former boating hub now converted into a relaxed spot with restaurants and a landscaped quay. The town lies at the heart of the Muscadet Sèvre-et-Maine wine region, making it a natural starting point for exploring the surrounding vineyards. Towpaths and walking trails along the river are ideal for walking, cycling or canoeing. The town centre retains a typical Loire Valley character, with stone houses and a regular market. Well served by the metropolitan public transport network, including buses and a nearby tram line, Vertou makes a convenient base for visiting Nantes while enjoying a greener setting. The mild, moderately rainy oceanic climate allows for outdoor activities for much of the year.
