Commarin

Commarin is a small village in the Côte-d'Or department of Burgundy, located a few kilometres north-west of Châteauneuf-en-Auxois. The village is best known for its château, a historic residence surrounded by a moat, set within parkland and passed down through the same family for several generations. Part of the château is open to visitors and remains the main point of interest for those travelling through the area. The setting is rural and peaceful, typical of the Auxois region, with rolling countryside, meadows and woodland ideal for walking and exploring local heritage. Commarin lies close to the Burgundy Canal and the hilltop village of Châteauneuf-en-Auxois, listed among the most beautiful villages in France, making it a convenient base for discovering this part of Burgundy. The wider region is also renowned for its gastronomy, particularly Burgundy wines and regional dishes such as beef bourguignon and local cheeses. The climate is semi-continental, with mild summers and cool winters, better suited to heritage and countryside tourism than to intensive summer activities.
