Savigny les beaune

Savigny-lès-Beaune is a wine-producing commune in the Côte-d'Or, Burgundy, a few kilometres north-west of Beaune on the road towards Bouilland. The village lends its name to a well-regarded appellation, producing mainly red wines from Pinot Noir along with some Chardonnay whites, grown on the slopes overlooking the Rhoin valley. Local heritage includes the Château de Savigny-lès-Beaune, dating from the 14th century, now known for housing an unusual collection of fighter jets, motorcycles and racing cars alongside its winemaking activities. Its proximity to Beaune provides easy access to the Hospices de Beaune and the Route des Grands Crus, which winds through several celebrated wine villages of the Côte de Beaune. The continental climate, with warm, dry summers, supports vine cultivation throughout the region. Savigny-lès-Beaune therefore makes a quiet base for exploring the Burgundy vineyards, combining tastings at local producers with visits to nearby architectural sites, while remaining well connected to the main routes towards Dijon and Lyon.
