Pommard

Pommard is a wine-producing village in the Côte-d'Or, in Burgundy, a few kilometres south of Beaune, at the heart of the Côte de Beaune. It lends its name to a well-regarded appellation known for red wines made from pinot noir grapes, often considered among the most robust in the region. The village is surrounded by classified vineyard plots, including several premier cru sites, spreading across the surrounding hillsides in a landscape typical of the Burgundy wine country, part of which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site under the Climats du vignoble de Bourgogne. The village itself retains a rural character, with stone houses, cellars and family-run wine estates, some of which offer tours and tastings. Its proximity to Beaune provides easy access to shops, restaurants and the Hôtel-Dieu, one of the region's landmark buildings. The surrounding countryside is well suited to walking or cycling through the vines, notably along the Route des Grands Crus, which links several renowned wine villages. The temperate continental climate, with warm, dry summers, supports both viticulture and outdoor activities for much of the year.
