Nuits st georges

Nuits-Saint-Georges is a wine-growing town in the Côte-d'Or department, in the heart of the Côte de Nuits, between Dijon and Beaune. It lends its name to a well-regarded red wine appellation, and numerous wine houses and cellars offer tastings along the Route des Grands Crus that runs through the region. The town is also known for its production of blackcurrant liqueur (crème de cassis). The Burgundian town centre retains typical architecture, with old houses and the Saint-Symphorien church. A weekly market brings life to the town, and the surrounding countryside is ideal for cycling along the Voie des Vignes, a route linking several wine villages. The railway station provides easy access to Dijon (around 20 km away) and Beaune (around 15 km away), both rich in heritage and gastronomy. Burgundy's continental climate, with warm summers and cool winters, is well suited to the vines grown on the surrounding hillsides. Nuits-Saint-Georges therefore makes a convenient base for exploring the Burgundy vineyards, its terraced vine landscapes and winemaking heritage, while enjoying a quiet, rural setting typical of the region.
