Mailly le chateau

Mailly-le-Château is a village in the Yonne department of Burgundy, perched on a rocky outcrop overlooking the Cure valley. The site is known for its panoramic views over the river and surrounding countryside, as well as for the Saint-Adrien church, a building combining Romanesque and Gothic features. The old bridge spanning the Cure links the upper village to its lower section. The Nivernais Canal runs nearby, offering opportunities for cycling or walking along the greenway, as well as boating activities in season. The limestone cliffs above the valley form a rock-climbing site popular with climbers from the region. The rural, wooded surroundings are well suited to hiking, with relatively easy access to the Chablis vineyards and the Morvan Regional Nature Park. The village retains an unspoilt character, with a handful of shops and accommodation options geared towards nature-based, restful tourism. The area combines modest built heritage, valley landscapes and outdoor activities, within the quiet setting typical of rural Burgundy.
