Vezelay

Vézelay, located in the Yonne department of Burgundy, is a medieval village built on a hilltop overlooking the Cure valley. It owes its renown to the Basilica of Sainte-Marie-Madeleine, a masterpiece of Romanesque architecture and UNESCO World Heritage Site, which historically served as a starting point for pilgrims travelling the Way of St James to Santiago de Compostela.
