Lainsecq

Lainsecq is a small rural village in the Yonne department, in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region, located within the Puisaye-Forterre natural area. This part of Burgundy is characterised by gently rolling countryside, ponds, woodland and hedgerow farmland typical of the region. The village retains a distinctly rural character, with its church and traditional stone-built houses. The wider Puisaye area is known for its pottery tradition, exemplified by the workshops of Saint-Amand-en-Puisaye nearby, as well as for the Château de Saint-Fargeau, one of the region's key historic landmarks. The surrounding countryside lends itself well to walking and cycling, thanks to a network of quiet lanes winding through fields and small hamlets. The semi-continental climate, with mild summers and cool winters, is typical of Burgundy as a whole. Positioned roughly midway between Auxerre and the Loiret border, Lainsecq offers a quiet base from which to explore the rural heritage and natural surroundings of Puisaye-Forterre, away from the busier tourist trails, in a peaceful and unspoilt setting.
