Arthonnay

Arthonnay is a small rural commune in the Yonne department, in Burgundy-Franche-Comté, located in the Tonnerrois area near the town of Tonnerre. The village retains a typically pastoral character reflective of the wider Burgundy countryside, with its rolling landscapes, cultivated fields and small woodlands. The surrounding region is known for its winemaking tradition, notably the Chablis vineyards just a few kilometres away, as well as for its rural architectural heritage of houses built from local limestone. The area is particularly well suited to outdoor activities such as walking and cycling, offering the chance to explore neighbouring villages and valleys. The nearby Armançon river also provides opportunities for riverside strolls. The temperate continental climate brings warm summers and cool winters, well suited to rural, nature-based tourism.
